Log from the Sea of Cortez
In 1941, novelist Steinbeck and his friend, marine biologist Ed Ricketts published SEA OF CORTEZ, recounting in scientific (as well as personal) detail their six-week exploration in a hired trawler, collecting specimens and adventures. THE LOG FROM THE SEA OF CORTEZ repeats the narrative of that work with minimal technical detail, plus a memoir of Ricketts. Our copy is a first edition, from the collection of writer and publisher Bruce Barber, who knew Baja intimately. Included with the book is unique letter which accompanied Barber's purchase of the book in 1991.
The interior of the book is near-fine. The original dust jacket, protected with clear plastic, is missing the upper front corners. It is an exceptional copy of an important and hard-to-find book.
