The Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS) has the ease, look, and familiarity of the ABLLS-R extended to necessary skills of independence in home, school, and community settings.

The Assessment of Functional Living Skills program consists of:

... The AFLS Guide--A teaching companion that contains task analyses, teaching suggestions, and prompting strategies, and

... Six individually available assessment protocols including Basic Living Skills, Home Skills, Community Participation Skills, School Skills, Independent Living Skills and Vocational Skills.

Along with the AFLS Guide, the Protocols assess functional, practical, and essential skills of everyday life. Each assessment protocol can be used alone, but the protocols are conceptualized as parts of an extended assessment spanning a continuum throughout a learner's life in home, school, and community settings. Each distinct module is connected by unifying themes and overarching goals for maximizing a learner's freedom, independence, and opportunities. Different economical bundles are available.

THIS ITEM is the School Skills Protocol.

It is important for a learner to be an active participant in a variety of skills, routines and social situations in educational settings. These skills are essential in striving for independence and successful functioning in different types of classrooms, in all parts of the school campus, and with peers and various staff. This assessment covers all age levels of education (i.e., elementary school, middle school, high school, college). It also incorporates skills that are necessary in a wide range of classroom environments (i.e., special day classes, "pull out" classrooms, inclusion, regular education), and considers the individual's level of development (e.g., language, behavior, and cognitive abilities). The School Skills Protocol includes:

... Classroom Mechanics

... Routines and Expectations

... Meals at School

... Social Skills

... Technology

... Common Knowledge

... Core Academics

... Applied Academics

"The AFLS is a critical tool for clearly defining targets dealing with functional living skills! This tool has been sorely needed for meeting the needs of many children, adolescents and adults. A must have for meeting the needs of our low-incidence population! A very needed tool!"--Dustin from Colorado.

"I was just introduced to the AFLS books. I have to tell you I am so thankful, they are wonderful. It made me see how many things I still do for my son with autism and didn't even realize. These would have been great for my typical daughter too as she is married now and still calls me to say, "How do you tell if meat is spoiled?" and many other questions that are in your books. I've always loved the ABLLS-R and now the AFLS really helps me look at my son's total picture. Thanks...!"--Susan from Florida
